Open Source CMS Books: Drupal for Education and E-Learning
Packt – the publishing company specialized in books on software that have developed vibrant online communities – just published â€Drupal for Education and E-Learningâ€, yet another book on the 2008 Open Source CMS Award Winner.
The â€Drupal for Education and E-Learning†book was written by Bill Fitzgerald of FunnyMonkey, a company that recently launched a platform aimed at helping schools to share commons. The book was reviewed by Joel “Senpai” Farris, COO at WorkHabit, Michael Peacock, founder of a consultancy specialised in web design, and Peter Wolanin, Drupal core developer now employed by Acquia.
Bill, who manages the Drupal in Education group, wrote a book aimed at providing information to build a rich web learning environment using Drupal. The book is a step by step guide to use Drupal to support teaching, but it is not a developers’ manual and you don’t need to know programming to take advantage of it.
The book helps to install Drupal from scratch, and then with a step by step approach helps to create a teacher blog, how to publish multimedia contents, tracking students, support multiple classes and even some hints about how to work with the Drupal community.
