Open Source CMS Books: Drupal 6 Sites Builder Solutions, by Packt

Packt - the publishing company specialized in books on software that have developed vibrant online communities - published ”Drupal 6 Site Builder Solutions”, yet another book on the 2008 Open Source CMS Award Winner.

Mark Noble, author of the book, develops websites for living and such hands-on skills helped him to write a pragmatic book on run your business website, including blogs and latest news sections, events calendar, product catalogues and much more. The book was reviewed by Alan Doucette, partner at the development company KOI, and David Myburgh, who also runs his own company mybesinformatik, specialized in building Drupal web sites.

Mark building a site for a fictional client shows how to use taxonomies to categorize contents, let customers interact with the site, build a a newsletter or integrate Flickr, YouTube and Google Maps content. The book is a step by step guide, covering also backup and optimization issues, but since it is not a developers’ guide it ends by giving hints and tips about how to outsource your web development.
