  Open Source Alternatives: Osalt, open source as alternative 

  Around the net there are a number of open source directories, among them the Enterprise Open Source directory sponsored by Optaros, the Red Hat Network by Red Hat, Ohloh and the independent Osalt.

  Osalt is aimed at helping end users to find open source alternatives to well-known proprietary products like Photoshop, Dreamweaver or enterprise products like Bea Weblogic or HP OpenView.

  I asked Anders Ingeman Rasmussen, Osalt Editor and owner of Airflake, few questions about him and Osalt.

  Opentaps is a an open source ERP + CRM suite sponsored by Open Source Strategies Inc., and developed by full-time professional developers with the help of a community of contributors, recently adopted by Honeywell International.

  Opentaps incorporates several open source projects, including Apache Geronimo, Tomcat, and Apache OFBiz for the data model and transaction framework; Pentaho and JasperReports for business intelligence; Funambol for mobile device and Outlook integration. Plus opentaps applications which provide user-driven applications for CRM, accounting and finance, warehouse and manufacturing, and purchasing and supply chain management.

  Technology Tuesday: Rome, 2 December 2008 

  Arturo Di Corinto and the Free Hardware Foundation invite everyone to join the second “Technology Tuesday”,  today 2th December at 9 PM by the Love&Dissent gallery, via Leonina 85, Rome (Underground line B, Cavour station).

  BarCamp: Piùblog 2008, Rome, 5-8 December 

  Piublog 2008 will take place in Rome 5-8 December within the event “Più libri più liberi” (eng.: more books, more freedom), the annual fair of the independent Italian publishers.

  Piublog 2007 was a great venue to meet in person Italian bloggers and influencers, 2008 edition has three different sessions and seems really promising.

  Italo Vignoli kindly invited me to talk in his session – Social Life. Friendfeed, Facebook and Myspace, between fun and usefulness -  about my experiences and impressions about corporate blogging, as observer of the International ICT scene. I am looking forward to meet old and new friends to share our vision of the future.

  FOSDEM 2009 is coming, QualiPSo plays it again, GIS Open Source Conference: European Open Source Events, links 30-11-2008 

  Qualipso Open World Forum – Yet another QualiPSo Conference will be held at the Open World Forum. What food QualiPSo will cook for their open source thanksgiving?

  FOSDEM 2009 – The ninth edition of the Free and Open Source Software Developers’ European Meeting will take place on the 7-8 February 2009, in Brussels. Differently from QualiPSo FOSDEM has no funds and is organized by volunteers, donations and sponsorships are welcome.

  Commercial Open Source Blog: another year in review 

  Commercial Open Source blog has completed its second year of life, and it is now time for another one year in review post.

  I want start saying thanks to my great friend Antonella Beccaria, who generously took good care of my blog for two long years, and my new appointed webmaster Matteo Ionescu, who is bringing my blog to 2.0 life. Last but not least I want to add also my mentor Robin Good to the list of persons I am grateful.
