The Italian revenue agency has just released the list of ONLUS and volunteer organizations that are eligible for tax payers’ donations (5 per mille), and PLIO, the Italian OpenOffice.org association born in 2007 ,is among them!
PLIO has received 171 preferences, and it is in the first third of the list order by amount desc. The total amount of donations is 5.519,72 euros.

Christian Biasco, author of Ï€-Videoblog – a video series dedicated to intellectual property and intellectual freedom – has just released the video guide dedicated to OpenOffice.org. The OpenOffice.org video is the third of the PinGuide series, and it has been sponsored by two Italian LUG (LinuxTrent and FoLug).

Two days ago in Orvieto we announced that in two weeks the open source and open standards world will converge in Orvieto (Italy). The second ODF Plugfest (2-3 Nov) will open the week, bringing together implementors and stakeholders from all over the world to work together on ODF interoperability.
The OpenOffice.org 2009 conference (4-6 Nov) – organized by PLIO association and Orvieto LUG – has a very rich program, including specific sessions aimed at schools and at OOo development.

Umbria region is really at the forefront when it comes to open source and open standards. Let me know if you think anyone from the Region or the Regional Counsil is willing to give a speech at the ODF Plugfest on day one (2 Nov) to tell the audience about Umbria’s approach to open standards and ODF.
