Open Source Webinar: Strategies for Cutting Costs with Open Source, by OpenLogic

OpenLogic yesterday announced a suite of new professional services designed to help mid-sized and global 2000 companies grow their open source usage in light of the economic downturn.

OpenLogic will also conduct a webinar on Wednsday 29 October, covering practices for bringing open source into the enterprise, key areas to consider open source migrations and how to measure the relative ROI.

I am looking forward to read OpenLogic’s polling data on how enterprises are viewing OSS in light of the financial downturn. I suspect that VCs won’t be financing new open source startups any soon, since they will need to invest more money over a longer period of time into their existing portfolio companies. Enterprises might look into cost-saving alternatives, but savings have to be significant and proven.

Open Source is hot now? Maybe, proven cost savings is key here.
